Scion Paua biobased solution video wins at international conference
A video produced by Scion featuring paua shells blended with sustainable plastics has won the people’s choice award at the ECO-BIO 2016 conference in the Netherlands.
Paua power as it’s been aptly named, shows how 3D printing technology can be used to produce paua biocomposites from ground paua shell and sustainable plastics. It’s the work of Scion scientists Marie Joo Le Guen and Marion Sanglard.
The video was created for a competition at the ECO-BIO conference. The brief was to show a two minute movie showing a biobased solution to conquer the world.
The international ECO-BIO 2016 conference brought together scientists, NGO’s and governments as well as industries to discuss the challenges and solutions to build a sustainable biobased economy.
Scion is working with paua farmers OceaNZ Blue Ltd., a division of Aotearoa Fisheries. The project was co-funded by Scion and the Bioresource Processing Alliance (BPA), a collaboration between AgResearch, Callaghan Innovation, Plant and Food, and Scion.
