The changes announced by Government today are designed to maximise the value of public investment in science, innovation and technology and create a more dynamic system that can respond to New Zealand’s priorities and keep pace with advancing technology.

The changes provide an exciting opportunity to set up New Zealand’s science organisations for the future.

The review aimed to improve the effectiveness and impact of New Zealand’s science sector and we believe this solution will achieve that.

We are working through the details of the announcement and what this means for Scion. We do know we will continue to work closely with the government and other Crown Research Institutes on system design and implementation.

In the meantime, Scion remains firmly focused on scientific innovation.
